In life, we all want to succeed in everything we do, but sometimes we may lead to obstacles along the way. Succeeding is not something that just happens without doing anything. It has to take effort and determination to be successful. Growing up, we usually don’t think about the idea of failing or succeeding because that is the stage where we’re discovering our hobbies and talents. When we reach adulthood, we try to do our very best to be successful, and sometimes those opportunities don’t go as planned. Sometimes we have to learn how to fail in order to succeed, which is the harsh reality of it. If we continue to be good at everything, there is no lesson to learn, and sometimes that can be a bad thing. Being good at everything can put a lot of pressure on the person, thinking that they need to be “perfect,” and if one day they mess up, they will not take the outcome as well as a person who isn’t “perfect.”
Sometimes, before a person begins to be successful, they have to fail at something first. I have learned that it is okay to fail because that’ll influence me to work even harder next time around. One thing, in particular, I would want to point out is my education. As many of you all know from a previous blog, I struggle with a communication impairment disorder and it has affected my education many times in the past. I tend to struggle academically and have received grades that aren’t very that good. But sometimes, it is good to receive poor grades (once in a while) because that has influenced me to work even harder. The same goes for running. When I run in a competition, I don’t always get the results I wanted. Sometimes I can be hard on myself, thinking that I will never achieve the goals I want to accomplish. But with more time, experience, and effort, it’ll be easier to get where I want to be.
When going through the recovering process, sometimes you can hit points that you may feel you aren’t able to overcome. There could be times where your brain can trick you into thinking that “you’re not enough” or “feeling useless” but those negative thoughts can be taken away if you chose to motivate yourself to achieve the goal you want to achieve. In past experiences, I had to overcome many obstacles where I struggle to get something done, and sometimes, it takes way longer than I anticipated. Sometimes, I have to go through a trial and error phase, where I constantly have to repeat something over and over to get something done. Kind of like how math works. When we solve a math problem, sometimes we don’t always get the right answer right away. Sometimes we constantly have to start the problem over again because we mess up on one step of the equation. Similarly, this is a lot like how life works. There are times you may struggle and it can be frustrating at times to reach the goal. But one thing to consider is to not give up and know the light at the end of the tunnel.
Finally, the endpoint of succeeding. When someone gets to the end of an accomplishment, they feel excited and relieved that we finally got something done. Whenever I have achieved something, I feel this sense of joy and happiness that I was able to get the job done. For example, when I was applying to colleges, I was extremely stressed and overwhelmed during the process but when I finally made my college decision, I was extremely relieved by the outcome and was glad to get it done. Also, sometimes when it takes a large amount of effort to succeed at something, the more accomplished you feel. If it were to be something small, like finding the right thing to eat for dinner, that is an accomplishment but that isn’t something that takes up as much effort.
Overall, sometimes we don’t always have to succeed at everything, especially the first time around. But it doesn’t mean that it is impossible to achieve the goal we want to accomplish. The way I look at it, sometimes you need to fail in order to succeed because the lessons you learn from failure can bring out more success in your life in the long run.
